Judith is not here

our goodbye got prolonged so it seemed

for an unknown number of days

I find myself in the kitchen performing the morning ritual 

I know every sound of this house by heart

the noises rise and join with a thousand others

together they repeat the past Time drove them underground but they remain undead

when I finally get at my table I sit on someone else’s chair and deny the birds who keep on staring at me from behind the glass
